Careers

Are you someone who loves barbecue and grilling? Do you have skills or knowledge you want to share with others?

We’re looking for passionate individuals to join our team who can help us grow and continue to be a leading resource for BBQ and grill lovers everywhere.

At FoodFireFriends, BBQ isn’t just a way for us to cook food, it’s a passion of ours that we see as a way to connect and bring people together. A BBQ serves as a social gathering, a medium for connection, celebration, and community building. Would Memorial Day, 4th of July, the Superbowl, or Father’s Day be the same without an outdoor gathering and a smoking pit with delicious food as the centerpiece?

This is why we have ‘Friends’ in our site name. We see great food cooked over live fire, shared with friends (FoodFireFriends) as one of the best things in life and a driving force of what we do on this site.

Our goal is to help everyone enjoy the satisfaction of BBQ and grilling, whether it’s a weekend cookout, a special family meal, or a large celebratory gathering.

If you share these sentiments, have a wealth of experience in cooking over live fire, and would like to get paid to share this knowledge with others, we invite you to look at our job openings and potentially join our team to help us achieve our goals.

Who We Are and What We do

At FoodFireFriends, we are a small but dedicated team who value honesty, hard work, and a genuine love for cooking over an open flame.

We focus on providing the best tips, techniques, and insights for barbecue enthusiasts of all skill levels. We cover every conceivable topic related to BBQ, grilling, and more, including:

  • Grilling guides
  • Barbecue guides
  • Wood-fired oven cooking
  • Rotisserie cooking
  • Recipes (with ingredient lists and step-by-step instructions)
  • Sourcing, storing, and preparation of ingredients
  • Curing and cold smoking
  • Buying guides and reviews of outdoor cooking equipment (BBQs, grills, thermometers, tools and accessories, and more.)

Our website and online communities are growing, and we’re now making moves to expand the size of our team alongside this.

What We Can Offer

First and foremost, you get paid to BBQ and write about it. There are definitely worse jobs out there!

Second, we offer flexibility. We are a remote working team, so you can choose where and when you work and fit it around your current lifestyle and responsibilities.

Third, you get to build and improve your online presence. We have an audience of many thousands daily who come to read our content, so if you already have a BBQ-related business, YouTube channel, other social media presence, or website in the BBQ industry, sharing your expertise with our readers is a great way to get your name out there and earn further recognition and eyeballs for what you do.

Finally, you have the chance to receive free BBQ-related products. We often get approached to receive free products in return for a review, including barbecues, smokers, grills, tools and accessories, and even meat boxes from online butchers. We often direct these toward members of our team, who then get paid to use the equipment while taking photos and videos, and noting down their hands-on experiences with the product for our reviews. You are free to keep, give away, or sell the product and keep the proceeds. It is up to you.

Please take a look at our current job opportunities below and consider joining Food Fire Friends. Here, your love for grilling can turn into fulfilling paid work, making a difference in the lives of fellow grill enthusiasts.

Current Opportunities

We currently have the following opportunities:

Product Reviewer and Writer

As a product reviewer, you would be required to work within our editorial team developing detailed, hands-on reviews of products related to BBQ and grilling, including smokers, grills, wood-fired ovens, charcoal, wood pellets, thermometers, tools, and accessories.

We will provide the products for review, after which you are free to keep, sell, or give away the product(s) as you see fit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Helping to decide which new, innovative, quality products to review.
  • Thorough testing and evaluation of products during real-world, hands-on use.
  • Decision-making on what to test, how to test, and how to best present your findings in your writing so that it is most useful to readers.
  • Photography and video taking of products during use.
  • Detailed writing of helpful, analytical, product reviews that will help readers in their buying decisions.
  • Writing buying guides that compare and contrast products in a particular category so buyers learn what to buy that best suits their needs. (For example Best charcoal grills, Bluetooth thermometer, or best gas grills for small apartments.)
  • Write how-to guides and informational articles that help people use the products you’ve reviewed to get the most out of them, to get the best results while avoiding common problems.

You Must Have:

  • Proven written and oral communication skills and experience
  • Strong research skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Wide knowledge of smoking and grilling techniques and products, including real-world use of many different types and brands of products.
  • Must be based in the USA, as we will need to ship you products, and international shipping costs make this prohibitive.
  • An inclusive, non-judgmental attitude to other outdoor cooks and their choices! We cook with charcoal, gas, pellet grills, and open fire. If you look down on other’s choices of equipment and fuel types, this is really not the job for you.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience working in an editorial environment, either in print or online
  • Existing BBQ-related business, website, YouTube channel, or social media presence
  • Photography and/or video skills, including ‘talking to camera’

This is initially a part-time role, remote working from home, and you will be expected to produce two pieces of content per month, with the potential to increase to more work over time.
